Fagernes
Fagernes was founded in 1857 and is located in the Valdres valley as is the center for adminsitration and commerce in Nord-Aurdal community. It was granted city rights in 2007 and has a population around 1750. The city has been an important terminus with good connections to Oslo,Gudbrandsdalen, Jotunheimen og Vestlandet. It was also the en dof the line for the Valdres railroad line, but the tracks has been removed in 1991 when the line was closed down.
The first hotels arrived in 1875 and the city is still very popular among tourists. And there are several hotels in town and a camping site.
