Green Cargo Re-class

(freight units)

GC Re 1424
Finally some thing new on any of the national trin companies. Here is a very early test run of a pair of Re.s to Mora. Actually the very first visit of any of the handsome German built engines. The 20 unit strong Re.s are based on DB.s BR 185.2 and is able to haul the current used on the Danish rail system but are not so far equipped with DSB signaling. Mora 2010-02-10.

GC Re 1425
The Re.s are to be used pairs to haul heavy steal trians from Luleå over their home depot of Borlänge to the ore pert of Oxelösund. But atleast during the summer of 2010, they were used in any kind of train to test their performance. Here the brand new Re 1425 is taking the night of in the large yard of Ånge. 2010-07-10, Ånge.

GC Re 1425
The newest power on Green Cargo has be come rare in DSalecarlia they seem to grind the rails in numbers on the Northern Main Line as seen here at Ånge. The units are used in pairs to haul the heavy steel trains from the huge steel works in Umeå to the port of Oxelösuns on the Swedish east coast. Still the 16 engines strong class is maintained at the shops of Borlänge, which is roughly half way on their run. Ånge 2012-08-05.
GC Re 1426
The Re 1426 was the company to Re 1424 to Mora on their first run on the Dalecarlian main line. Mora has had several visits from Re.s on the Lunch Hour Special and as they are not able to be Mu.ed with the older Rc.s they have been hauling the entire train and the Rc has been reduced on these runs to a 85 tom boxcar. The engines arrives in separate trains but on their return, they are added to one southbound freight. Mora 2010-02-10

GC Re 1425 & Re 1428
The new future is here, parked like they were waiting for a public shot from the Green Cargos public department the sisters are taking the night off. 2010-07-10, Ånge.

GC Re 1428
Re 1428 with the sister unit 1436 is accelrating out of the Ånge yard on a late saturday evening. Ånge Yard is very accesseable and a fine rail fanning spot with loads of freight trains and passanger runs.

GC Re 1436
This day had a rather unusual treat or two, first Re 1436 is hauling the combined train of the log unit train and what is remaining of the once rather lengthy Lunch Break Special. Next to the track is a couple of Passanger RC 3.s mued, for a unit log train for a private operator. Mora 2010-06-22.

GC Re 1436
I spent two evenings at Ånge and one train I saw both nights was this empty streel train running southbound with a pair of Re.s in carge. This day the Re 1436 was the trailing unit behind its sister Re 1428. Ånge 2012-08-04.

MGW 185 642-6
Green Cargo is not the only one to use any variation of Br185.s there are a few leasing units that runs to Mora quite regulary. One is this unit that hauls logs for its living. The unit has been in Sweden since 2009. and is leased by TX-logistic to haul timber unit trains.

DB Schenker Scandinavia AS
185 405-5

A suprise really, a DB Schenker engine in Mora! My guess is that the Green Cargos own RE.s has been pressed in to other duties as well as the Green Cargos rebuilding program of rebuilding its large fleet of various engines of Rc2 and Rc4.s in to Rd-class.

My guess is based on the fact that it has has become common to see Rc1.s on road duties aswell. They usually are working as heavy switchers and serving hump duties on the major yards. So as Green Cargo is the partner with the mighty DB Schenker on purchase of 17 plus 6 units for service between Scandinavia and Germany, it should not be totally out of the place that these units will eventually show up everywhere in Sweden, at least untill the Rd-class program is completed.

The engines are built by Bombardier and are of type called F140 AC2 and identical to Green Cargos own 16 unit strong Re-class and the 10 Ce 119-class (El19) of the Norwegian Cargo class, except for some details like breakman platform and stansions at the ends on the GC units and the color of course. Here I guess the engines of the combined Lunch Break Special and the mid day timber train discuss about the visitor and decide to the Verkehrsrot painted unit haul the entire train and the Rc4 1177. It is kind of puzzling that the both DB Br 185.2 (as it is officially called by DB) and the Green Cargos Re-class is not capable to run MU.ed with the Rc.s. But the Rd-s will be able to be latched up with them, but not with their unrebuilt Rc-sisters.

RailPool 185 674-9
One of the traxx engines which has been a regular visitor is Rail Pools 185 674-9 and as its MGW sister is used along with a NetRails repainted former SJ Ma unit on hauling unit trains of logs from Blyberg near Älvdalen. Usually a T43 diesel is brought along for the final strech from Mora to the logloading site and the whole train is coupled along with the diesel to the waiting electric in Mora.

RailPool 185 693-9
These rented power seem to get everywhere but their line of duties seems to be the same, hauling heavy timber trains to the paperplants.
One of the units used on this kind of service is Railpool/TX Logistiks Br185 693-9.
