Green Cargo Rc.2

(freight units)

To the second section, Rc2 1086-1136

TGOJ Rc2 412
A different scheme on a RC2, but don't get fooled by the familaiar looks beneath the paint. The givaway is the different headlight arrangement that reveals its orgin. ASEA built a number of slightly modified units for Austria and there they were classified as 1043-class by ÖBB. After a years of dependable service, the surviving units returned back to Sweden and sold to different operators. This Rc became a unit for TGOJ and painted in modified house colors and got even more modifications, like the bullit proof windows and enlargered ventilation louvers. so far these units have been unusual on the Mora line but TGOJ Rc2 412 was caught in switching move to a waiting load of timber in Mora 11.h June 2005.

TGOJ Rc2 007
sometimes well made plans does not work, but still I could get the cliplse of this ex ÖBB 1043 unit parked at the busy yard of Avesta/Krylbo in heavy rain. Avesta/Krylbo 2007-05-18

Tågab Rc2 008
At the first glance you think of this is a another repaint of SJ.s RC.s but it is not. It is one of the ten ex ÖBB 1043-class units that has returned to Sweden after the remaining 9 units were withdrawn from service in Austria and sold to various private operators in Sweden. They were given some modifications as the SJ.s RC 2-units as enlargered ventilation openings near the roof, but some details still gives away their origin like the ÖBB styled head lights. Gävle 2011-09-17.

Tågab Rc4 010
While shooting landscapes and stations at Dovre line at Fokstua, Norway I saw a set of head lights and a supricing consist glided in to the siding to allow a Signature train to pass. A Tågab ex ÖBB Br 1043, now Rc2 010 of Tågab Mu.ed with a very tired looking TMY 102 along with a consist of Hbis cars from various orgins, some even from NSB in new private ownership. My guess that the diesel was tagged along for a over haul at Marieborg.
Fokstua 2007-07-20.

GC Rc2 1028
It is the day before the new years eve of 2005 in Mora. This winter has been so far heavy on snow, once it fianlly appeared and I guess the engineer and the engine as well is happy to have a what modellers could say, a pike sized consist today on "Lunch Break Special".

GG Rc2 1030
Rc2 1030 is in laed of an extra log run, the load consists of pulp wood loaded on OMS-cars. Mora 20th April 2005.

GG Rc2 1031
Green Gargos Rc2 1031 sitting in Mora and waiting for the T44 to deliver a new cut of loaded timber for its southbound run. date 30, April 2004.

GG Rc2 1031
It is early fall and there is no trouble of fallen leaves for weeks as two Rc.s are to haul a long mixed freight of general freight and timber out of Mora. The lead unit is one of the oldest road unit in service GC Rc2 1031, followed by a younger sister GC Rc2 1100.
2007-09-13 Mora.

GG Rc2 1032
While taking photos of another Rc unit the timber train with Rc2 1032 on the lead started to roll to Borlänge. Mora 2007-02-12.

GG Rc2 1031
One noteable detail in these two shots taken in Borlänge 12th february is the single strut pantograph one end of this early freight unit. The single struts were reserved orignally to a few high speed versions of later Rc6.es and few were ordered to Rc3.s.

GC Rc2 1033
The afternoon general freight is prepared for its daily trip to Borlänge. Today first of October 2003, GC Rc2 1033 has run light to Mora, which is pretty rare and will return with about 15-20 cars back.

Note that there is still a plenty of early Rc.s that still wears the original pilots though many of the units are modified with huskier looking plow pilots that were introduced as a standard by the later units.

GC Rc2 1033

GC Rc2 1033 is sitting on the track and waiting in a one of those nasty late fall days. Temporary this will be over within a week as there will be a blizzard which once again created chaos on the railroad system. Mora 2006-10-24.

GC Rc2 1034
GC Rc2 1034 is having a day off at the engine terminal of Borlänge. Date 22th of August 2005.

GC Rc2 1034
GC Rc2 1034 is here leaving with a unit train with load of pulp wood out of the yard of Mora in 13. November 2005.

GC Rc2 1035
This engine was the prototype for the first of Limas version of RC engiens they offered in H0-scale. But that was in the days when the engine sported bright orange livery and the old logo of winged wheel in some kind of gold shape. The Limas version was cheap, compared to the competition, and much more crude and a rather poor runner.... Back to the future, The Green Gargos Blue bandit unit, Rc 2 1035 is only a few minutes from departing Mora with a friday version of the "Lunch Break Special" to Borlänge. Date 4th of December 2004.

GC Rc2 1035
In March the 11. 2006, the engine still wore the blue scheme as it sat out in cold at the terminal of Borlänge.

GC Rc2 1036
The final mile for the day and GC Rc2 1063 rolls slowly into Borlänge yard. 21th May 2004.

GC Rc2 1036

GC Rc2 1036 & Tågab TMX104
It is one of the last days of October in 2007 and the night are cold enough to make the mornings foggy. Today, the fog has not vanished before noon so the engineer of the GC Rc2 1036 will have reduced visibility alnog the shores of Lake Siljan, 2007-10-26 Mora.

GC Rc2 1038
At the engine terminal of Borlänge Rc2 1038 is given some kind of attention. 08.08.2003.

GC Rc2 1038
Rc 1038 has just arrived to Mora and after a puse it has rised the pantograph on its rear end and pulls its light consist of timber cars few houndred meters further and exchanges cars with the local T44 switcher and will in minutes be ready to haul a loaded unit train to the mills in south. Mora, 20/3 2006.

GC Rc2 1038
One of the hot spots in Stockholm is the container terminal south of the city in Årsta. The ports are mostly located north east from the city so you will see various transfer runs form and to the terminal. In most cases they are handled by Rc.s like Rc2 1038 while it slows down before entering to Årsta in 22/12 2006.

GC Rc2 1042

The new generation is coming

The northbound general freight is arriving to Mora and this is more or less something that happens every work day before the lunch pulled by a Rc2 1042 in 17. March 2006. But there is a bit of new item in this train the older generation of all door cars have been starting to get replaced by more modern cars of Hbis generation, introduced in the eighties. The model railroaders take note that these are exactly the same all door cars produced by Roco in H0-scale. They are offering the car in in current green scheme, but the previous blue sitll in vast majority and there are still cars around in original green and the first version of blue, with silver door sections.

GC Rc2 1042
The freight trains arriving just after noon has become one very lenghty train of mostly empties for the huge saw mill east of the town and the timber terminal west of the town. To handle the return train of loads and some general freight the both units will be working a lot harder. Mora 2007-02-13.

GC Rc2 1058
In later years, the Rc3.s are also seen in other duties aswell. I have seen them leased to a private freight operator in Norway, hauling auto rack cars and here as breaking power for road test of new motive power. Such is this occation as Rc3 1058, repainted in the current black is helping out to test what a Vossloh G6 is able to do. Here it is seen at the end of the electrical line in Mora.

Mora 2009-06-29.
GC Rc2 1064
Green Gargos Rc2 1064 has been waiting for to enter the yard of Falun 14th October 2003. The engineer kept himself busy by backing to the yard throat before getting a green light. The consist was rather modest, four loads of piggybacks, a few heavy duty containers, and a single telescope hood coil car. The delay was caused by a late running IC from Stockholm.

GC Rc2 1069
Sun is shining and the snow is melting in Mora 25th of February 2004, as the GC Rc2 1069 is about to leave the town with another "Lunch Break Special".

GC Rc2 1069
During 7. and 8. of february Rc2 1069 was busy on Dalecarlian mainline as she was in charge of the "Lunch Break Special" on 7th and in charge of unit train of timber on the following day.

The northbound run of the timbertrain was a bit of cruising as the engine was double headed with a green Rc4 1252 on the empty consist. The 1252 did not have any deliveries at all for Mora but was needed for the return run of the daily mixed freight.

GC Rc2 1070
Green Gargos Rc2 1070 in Mora in fall 2002. Modellers take not on this image. Take a look on the weathering on the track and the platform.

GC Rc2 1070
It is now four years later and spotting a green painted Rc unit is not that rare, still as one of the early ones the color seems to have not faded away as the unit is in the shadow in Mora 16th of March 2006.

GC Rc2 1070
More than 13 months later, Rc2 1070 is still looking fresh in in green colors. Today this unit has been busy on the Mora line, at morning it is ready to depart with a unit train of wood chips and at lunch time playing the second fiddle to railfans delight, the orange repainted GC.s Rc4 1290 with a "Mega Lunch" consist of timber and a few loads of general freight. Mora 2007-04-17.

GC Rc2 1070
The work is ovver the Green Cargos Rc2 1070 just rolled with a friend in to the engine tracks at Borlänge here I guess it will be resting for at least the night. During the day it will be joined with more units as this weekend is Eater holliday andmany of the customers have shut down itsoperations untill Tuesday the following week.
Borlänge 2012-04-05.

GC Rc2 1071
After hauling a long string of empty Habis alldoor four axle cars to Borlänge the pair of bandits, Rc 2 1071 and Rc4 1180 backs to the engine terminal in Borlänge.

GG Rc2 1071
Some six months or so later, Green Gargos Rc2 1071 in Mora in 26.th March 2004 with the daily Lunch Break Special. Compared to earlier months of the year, the business is picking up.

GG Rc2 1071
With combined effort of two locomotives a long consist of freight as just rolled in Mora. Here the engines will run around and double head the combined "Lunch Break Special" and the usually following unit timber train, but then Rc2 1071 will not be leading as it will be the second unit on the double header lead by Rc2 1042. Mora 2007-02-13.

GG Rc2 1071
In March the double header combined freight with the consist of "Lunch Break Special" and a following timber train has become a norm. I guess it would just right to call it as the Mega Lunch... Mora 2007-03-19.

GG Rc2 1071
The Mega Lunch is not the only train to need two engines, the morning train of wood chips sometimes get heavy enough to use two engines and occationaly so is the case with the timber train. The second engine is the Four Aces, GC Rc2 1111.
2007-08-27 Mora.

GG Rc2 1071
The mega lunch is served and the service rad on the southern part on the yard is still frozen enough to carry the weight of a car before it all gets a little to muddy to take the efforet of getting ther lights from this angle. The 1071 is leqding a consit of mixed freight to thr huge yard of Borlänge. It is kind of nice to see the resulf of the weathering on these ex SJ blue units.
Mora 2009-03-26.

GG Rc2 1072
In a typical scene of the choise of railfans with a camera in Stockholm, Green Gargo Rc2 leads a transfer run of containers south just few houndred meters south of the Stockholm Central station on the very busy main in 16th of December 2005, Stockholm.

GC Rc2 1072
It seems to be a lunch break and actually there is no hurry as the south bound IC train has just left so there are at least some twenty minutes before the engineer comes back waiting for his call with todays edition of the "Lunch Break Special".
Mora, 10/4 2006.

GG Rc2 1072
Looking like Rc 2 1072 is about to be buried in snow... The winter was band and lasted to the late April with a plenty of snow. Borlänge 11.March 2006.
GG Rc2 1072
Green Gargos Rc2 1072 is cruising to its terminal with just a pair of gas tank cars just before entering the yard in 4. July 2003.

GG Rc2 1076
Rc 2 1076 waits patiently on a regional run to arrive and then return back to Borlänge. The date is next to last day of 2004.

GG Rc2 1076
Rc 2 1076 and its sister unit Rc2 1089, has put up a show in Mora. The engines had combined their efforts to haul an empty train of timber racks. Then after waiting for the diesel to bring loaded timber train from the timber terminal west of town, the engines couple up to their waiting trains. The Lunch Time Special and the loaded timber train. Mora 13. October 2006.

GG Rc2 1077
As reported earlier, the lunch breaks have become a busy time of the day to watch action on the Mora yard. This is because the timber unit trains are runa abit later than before. Now, they share the yard with northbound counterpart for the "Lunch Break Special". Both trains termnate here and both have their new southbound consists ready for a quick return to south. Today, 7th of February 2005, the timber train is in charge of Rc2 1077.

GG Rc2 1077
GC Rc2 1077.s paint has faded but it is out and making revenue as it waits for tis turn to lead out a consist of timber out of Mora yard in 16. February 2006.

GG Rc2 1078
A fresh repainted Rc2 1078 at the last rays of light. Borlänge May 20th 2004.

GG Rc2 1078
In early October the grass is just as green as the paint on the repainted Gren Gargo Rc engines. Here, GC Rc2 1078 is waiting for the high ball with a healthy long consist of mixed lumber products.
2007-10-08 Mora.

GC Rc 2 1080
An unusual double header in Mora on the "Lunch Break Special", the lead unit was used for power to transfer three couchettes to Mora to provide sleeping for the crew for a large military transport.

GC Rc 2 1080
The wood chip runs from Mora are usually pretty early in the morning but in 15. August 2004, it was late enough to be able to catch.

GC Rc 2 1080
It has been snowing through the night as it is pretty cold, the now becomes like powder and sticks in anything that is in motion. Looking a bit battered, Rc2 1080 is ready to roll from Mora when the signal turns. 29th December 2005.

GG Rc2 1081
The colder breeze says it, the summer is over and some of the branches of the birches are allready turning yellow. It is lunch time and as it is friday the consist behind GC recent repainted RC2 1081 is a bit longer than usual. Mora 2005-09-09

GG Rc2 1081

Rc2 1081 is waiting patinetly for the mid day passenger train to leave for Stockholm. So the mainline will be free for the slower freight. Mora 2006-10-24.

GG Rc2 1081 & Rc4 1181
Rc2 1081 and GC Rc4 1181 have just arrived with a freight from Borlänge and will be switched over to a southbound heavy freight. Mora 2007-04-20.

GG Rc2 1081 & Rc4 1314
Rc2 1081 and GC Rc4 1314 are just about to leave with a lengthy consist of general freight and long cut of timber cars in sunny but cold day. Mora 2007-05-16

GG Rc2 1082
There has been a blizzard and it is about to get more severe and that foul weathered have stranded the morning unit train of wood chips with the first repainted unit repainted in green, Rc2 1082 which has an unusual variation of this paint with green roof. Now the engine is dead behind Rc4 1148 which is hauling the longer than usual Lunch Break Special. But as the scheduled freight was short it would not been a problem for the lone unit to haul the heavy weight. But the slow accelraton out of Mora in bad weather says that it will be a tough performance for the unit. Mora 2006-02-07.

GG Rc2 1082
One of the prizes to photogrph on Swedish rails today is Rc2 1082 which is the ony Green Cargo repaint with a green roof. Today after being a second unit on a light train of empty timber cars, it will head down with the "Lunch Time Special". Mora 2006-10-12.

GG Rc2 1082
The first reapint is looking alike it would be a great idea to have it repainted once again as it is waiting as a second unit on a heavy freight out of Mora on the mid day freight. Mora 2008-03-31.

GC Rc 2 1084
The date is 4th of October 2004 and GC Blue Bandit Rc2 1084 is getting ready to leave Mora with a sister with a unit train of pulpwood.

GC Rc 2 1084
Date is 9th of December 2005 and GC bandit Rc2 1084 is back, this time waiting for the Intercity train to leave and some 10 minutes later for the red light to turn green.

GC Rc 2 1084

GC Rc 2 1084 & InlandGods Ma 882
It is a suny day and though there is even more snow on the ground you get a feeling that there is going to be changes pretty soon. But this was delayed once again not too soon a week with snow and it was at least close to record breaking with the white stuff. Rc 1084 is getting ready to roll after comparing noses with old cousin Ma from the fifties. Mora 24/3 2006.

GC Rc 2 1084
During the summer time it is common to take things a bit more leisurable, I guess the same goes to railroading. At least the length of the consists shrinks. I guess that GC Rc2 1084 will have a little trouble to get this train in time in Borlänge. Mora 21.th August 2006

GC Rc 2 1084
Still not much sign of winter, in many ways it looks like one of those boring days in November. But green Garog puts on a show a late comming combined freight arrives and the power will be split up for the two waiting consists in Mora. Mora 2007-01-10

GC Rc 2 1084
GC Rc2 1084 is ready to roll from Mora in a sunny day with a noon general freight. 2007-09-21 Mora.

GC Rc 2 1085
In March 2004 we see GC Rc1085 busy with some switching at Mora yard. This duty is usually a job for T44 stationed here but during mid day it is hauling a local to get few loads of pulpwoods on the line to Älvdalen.
