Støren

For me the town is the gateway to Trondheim while coming from Röros southeast or the last interesting area on my way home. The are has a lot of very varied scenery in the area ranging from argicultural valleys surrounded by mountains or the the steep hills along the E6 from south bound, at north the area changes again to farming plane with mountain background.

The town is located where the railroad lines over Dovre mountain joins with the Røros line and also where the E6 joins with the High way 30 from Röros at the shore of the river Gaula. It is having 2000 citizens living there and is the service center for the Midtre Gauldal municipality.

Støren was established as a municipality January 1, 1838. Three other municipalities were later separated from it: Horg (1840), Soknedal (1841) and Budal (1880). Støren was merged together with Budal, Soknedal and Singsås to create the new municipality of Midtre Gauldal January 1, 1964. Støren is today the administrative center of Midtre Gauldal.
